The new large screen facilitated an extra row of apps, making room for five rows and an additional four in the dock at the bottom. The iPhone 5 was the first iPhone to have a screen larger than 3.5-inches – measuring 4-inches, to be exact – and was also the first to charge using a lightning port, replacing the 30-pin Apple Dock connector.
